New Work

birds in art, bird art, bird painting, avian art
An Offering 12"x9"  oil/panel by Sarah Siltala

It's been a long time since I had time to catch up on my blogging.  The past few months have been a real whirlwind.  When I think about the past eight weeks in particular I can't imagine many more major life moments than we had in the Siltala household.  I have LOTS to catch up on and many future posts planned!

For one, we moved.  Yes, we had our house on the market for months and we had all the chaos that comes with buying/selling homes.  It was very tiring and stressful and I had little time to dedicate to painting.  I am a bit sad about that, but in all honesty I am completely blissed out in my new house.

Our decision to move was based on a decision to simplify our lives.  I am really looking forward to making many more great memories in our brand new home.

~~Here's to fresh starts, Cheers!~~

Book of the Bird, Birds in Art

I'm happy to announce that I have several images in the new book:

The Book of the Bird celebrates the bird in art with an elegant, international collection of paintings, illustrations, and photographs, featuring all kinds of birds from the smallest tits and wrens to colourful exotics.

Interspersed though the illustrations are short texts giving background to the pictures and information on bird species. This is the perfect gift for all bird lovers.

National Gallery of Art

I wanted to share a few of the pics I took when I got to visit the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.  I was overwhelmed at the vast halls filled with art, from every great artist that I ever wanted to see.  I didn't have time to visit every room, the day went by in a blur.  I am really sad that I missed a few rooms with my favorite artists, but I'm looking forward to planning another trip in the near future.  One day is just not enough when there's so much to see!
